Manchester Street School is a Decile 6 co-educational primary school situated at 160 Manchester Street, in the heart of Friendly Feilding in the Manawatu, New Zealand. We currently have around 300 children in our school, in classes ranging from New Entrant to Year 6. The school's rainbow logo reflects the focus areas for the values that all our students aim to uphold: Relationships, Learning, Environment and The Future.
The key to our school’s educational philosophy is the feeling of family: all our children understand and are part of the school whanau. We believe that when children are happy, and feel they belong, they are in the right frame of mind for learning. All our children have access to all the facilities in our extensive grounds (except, for safety reasons, the senior adventure playground) no matter what their age.

Manchester Street School plays an active role in the community, and our facilities form the centre-point for many community activities. We are proud to be part of the Adopt-a-Cop programme, in which a number of the local police officers have been ‘adopted by our school’. They pay regular, casual visits to join classes, participating in lessons and at playtime, helping to develop the community view that our police are part of our community and here to help.
All our children participate in school planning activities and ground development and their involvement in the improvement of their physical environment increases their sense of ownership and belonging. The school is an Enviro School, and our students are passionate about creating a better future for us all through environmental awareness and healthy environmental habits.
